Ready when you are.
A steady beat. A little more fluent.
A LITTLE PRACTICE ADDS UP
We’ll bring them back for more practice.
Progress can’t be saved in this browser. You can still practise here.
MAKE IT YOURS
Choose what you want to get to know.
Only selected spellings will appear.
Each selected note appears in every selected octave. C4 is middle C; C5 is the higher C in the third space of the treble staff. In chords, this sets the root’s octave.
Applying changes starts a new round. Your learning progress stays saved.
YOUR OWN PACE
Positive timing adjustment compensates for input that arrives late. Start at zero.
THE LITTLE DETAILS
Play the exact displayed octave. Hold a chord together, then release all keys to check; the sustain pedal does not hold an answer open. MIDI carries pitches, so it cannot distinguish C♯ from D♭. Switch to Tap names for written-spelling practice. Use Recheck MIDI after reconnecting if keys stop responding.
Install from your browser’s menu: Add to Home Screen or Install app. Progress stays on this device and browser.
Your daily goal is one completed round. A fresh start is always welcome.
Choose an activity on Home: Quiz for note and chord names, Metronome for a steady beat, Rhythm for press-and-hold timing, or Sight-reading for MIDI melodies. Sight-reading follows the metronome. A pitch, timing, hold or rest mistake resets the whole bar; the countdown brings you back in on a downbeat.
In Quiz, read the staff, choose a letter and accidental, then tap Check answer. For chords, choose the root letter and chord type.
Use Choose notes on Home or in App settings to select the exact names you want. Naturals, Sharps, and Flats are separate groups; selecting C♯ does not select D♭. In chord mode, these choices are chord roots.
Name what’s written: a C♯ is answered C♯, even though D♭ sounds the same. Use Staff range · octaves in Choose notes to practise the same name at different heights, including ledger lines. C4 is middle C; C5 sits in the third space of the treble staff. Octave numbers aren’t required in your answer.
In Tap names, a wrong answer stays red for two seconds so you can read it. MIDI notes answer on key press, with immediate retries and a brief color cue. Chords check after release, then accept the next attempt immediately. A correct answer turns green and moves on. Skip reveals the name briefly and moves to another question. Round accuracy counts first tries. Missed items return after a few questions or in a later round.
Short recall sessions and spaced review give you another chance to remember. Progress is kept separately for each clef and written name.
No microphone or account needed. An instrument is optional: enable a MIDI keyboard in App settings, then press the displayed note, or play and release the chord. Touch answers are always available. This is a staff-reading quiz; using a screen reader will describe the prompt but cannot replace the visual reading exercise.
